One key factor that led to the switch, according to Kanczuzewski, was the widespread popularity of tablets and cell phones on campus. “With Oncourse, all the help material came from IU, but now we have all these universities across the whole United States helping.” Canvas is in use at IUSB now and will be the only system in use by the end of 2016. The system is also in widespread use at other universities around the country. After extensive testing across the IU system, Canvas was chosen. However, the climate shifted and became more humid as Pangaea began to drift apart. The global climate during the Triassic was mostly hot and dry, with deserts spanning much of Pangaea's interior. The vast supercontinent of Pangaea existed until the mid-Triassic, after which it began to gradually rift into two separate landmasses, Laurasia to the north and Gondwana to the south. The first true mammals, themselves a specialized subgroup of therapsids, also evolved during this period. Therapsids, the dominant vertebrates of the preceding Permian period, declined throughout the period. Archosaurs that became dominant in this period were primarily pseudosuchians, ancestors of modern crocodilians, while some archosaurs specialized in flight, the first time among vertebrates, becoming the pterosaurs. A specialized subgroup of archosaurs, called dinosaurs, first appeared in the Late Triassic but did not become dominant until the succeeding Jurassic Period. Reptiles, especially archosaurs, were the chief terrestrial vertebrates during this time. Three categories of organisms can be distinguished in the Triassic record: survivors from the extinction event, new groups that flourished briefly, and other new groups that went on to dominate the Mesozoic Era. The Triassic began in the wake of the Permian–Triassic extinction event, which left the Earth's biosphere impoverished it was well into the middle of the Triassic before life recovered its former diversity. The Triassic Period is subdivided into three epochs: Early Triassic, Middle Triassic and Late Triassic. Both the start and end of the period are marked by major extinction events. I think it’s a chance to bond and grow stronger.”Īnna Maiolo ’24 shared her opinion on this rule. Because we are such a large class, an event for strictly seniors seems so intimate. I believe attending the homecoming dance is a right of passage. This rule also set homecoming apart from other dances, like Counties, where dates of different grades and schools can come. This meant that no significant others, friends from different grade levels or people from other schools were permitted inside the dance as a date. (Photograph taken by Maddie Bell ’23)ĭespite homecoming being an exciting event for seniors, there was one rule that created mixed opinions on the event : only Staples seniors could attend. But no worries, you still have the master RAW DATA WAV files in the WAV section, should you need them. I could not add the RAW DATA WAV files in MP3 because it wouldn’t all fit on one DVD. I also went the extra mile and added a folder of all the 4,841 files in MP3 format! That’s 9,682 WAV & MP3 Files! Well, to be honest, the MP3 section is short 86 files. Inside that, is each WAV file, numbered and titled as they appear in the episode! I also left the trimmed up RAW DATA WAV file incase you need it! Inside that, a folder for each episode of each season. The WAV files appear in a folder for each season. So, yes, high quality, but half the file size of a Stereo sample. That just means that the samples, though they will play through both left and right speakers, there is 1 audio signal, not 2 different ones for Left / Right Stereo Channels. Almost identical to CD quality, but CD’s are Stereo, not Mono. Wav samples are 44,100k, 16 bit, Mono WAV files. Quality ? Sure, I used DVD’s to sample directly from. I did this 4,841 times, for each WAV file! After that, I had to start the word processor and listen to each of the 4,841 files to type up what they said! Then, I had to rename each of the 4,841 files so that each of the file’s name, is the actual phrase! Any noises, such as steps or doors closing within pauses were also removed. So when you hear Kitt on the comlink, it’s relatively low in the mix and very hard to hear. This amplifies the sample to the most it can be without being distorted. Even the samples with noise in the background sound good because your ears pick up on the voice mostly, not the noise. Not just “chopped out” of the sound track. Essentially, the volume starts at 0, ramps up for the sample, the sample plays & when the sample is done, it ramps down to 0 again. For the phrases, I loaded each one, performed an audio fade in AND out for each of the 4,841 phrases. I went through that RAW DATA WAV file, cut out the spots that didn’t contain dialog. I went through each RAW DATA WAV file, placed markers denoting when Kitt talked or sound FX occurred. DC offset was corrected (when the WAV doesn’t cross in the middle of WAV form). I recorded a RAW DATA WAV file via the computer and sound editing software. Using DVD’s, I went through each episode (84+ a few extras). Yup, about 6 months ago, I began cataloging all of Kitt’s phrases, sound effects (Karr too). How cool is that?! The KITT voice was created by. In a pop-up window, select the app and click on the Force Quit button.Quit Drive Genius or force quit it by pressing the Cmd+Opt+Esc combination. What needs to be done next is to terminate the app processes via Activity Monitor. Prior to deleting the app, it is recommended to make use of its virus scanning functionality to erase malicious software from your drive. The complete uninstallation of Drive Genius presupposes the removal of self-contained files needed to run the app and traces that it leaves behind. How to Delete Traces Pertaining to Drive Genius?Īs has been mentioned in the first section of the article, the proper removal of an app is a task that is more sophisticated than the simple trashing of a file. To make the use of the utility safer, its developers have ensured that a user is presented with a warning message whenever care must be taken. It should be borne in mind, however, that if a user interrupts the execution of some Drive Genius functions such as defragmentation, they could damage their files and even lose some data. The scanning is extremely thorough, which is essential for removing both well-known and new virus strains. In fact, the utility has a malware scanning tool that will help to keep your Mac safe. After downloading the app and scanning it with a popular Mac antivirus, no malicious code has been detected. Therefore, to address your worries, I hasten to answer in affirmative to the question of whether Drive Genius is safe. It is hard to overestimate the importance of safety since no one wants to turn their shiny Mac into a problem-ridden hunk of metal by installing a malevolent software. If after asking “How can I effectively detect and repair a host of hard drive errors?”, you are directed toward Drive Genius, it is necessary to establish whether the use of the app is not associated with safety threats. The bottom line is that Drive Genius is a guardian angel of HDDs and SSDs. It is especially important since the failure of a drive usually translates into the loss of data the cost of which can be incalculable. Thus, if a user installs Drive Genius and adopts secure browsing habits, it is possible to ensure that a drive doesn’t spontaneously grind to a halt. The panoply of preventative tasks that the software allows performing ranges from defragmentation to error correction. The collection of tools offered by Drive Genius allows Mac users to engage in effective preventative measures necessary to extend the longevity of a storage device. What is Drive Genius?ĭrive Genius is a software package for maintaining a hard drive and benchmarking its performance. The aim of this article is to discuss how to completely uninstall Drive Genius from a Mac. For example, a user can inadvertently delete important system files, thereby endangering its integrity. Taking into consideration the lack of the uninstalling utility, the incorrect removal of the app can create some problems down the line. The need for a proper way of removing software is especially prominent in the case of Drive Genius, which is a utility that comes without a native uninstaller. Thus, the proper approach to app uninstallation presupposes the deletion of all software leftovers. It has to do with the fact that upon the installation, every app creates a hoard of temporary files, preference settings, and system data, which can be quite weighty. The trashing of a file works just fine with movies and documents, but apps are entirely different “creatures” that require a unique approach to their deletion. To properly remove an app from a Mac is a task that goes beyond simply dragging and dropping it into the Trash. Yes, you’ve guessed it right-you’ve been doing it wrong. A case in point is the uninstallation of apps from a Mac. It is possible to perform a task for days, weeks, or even years without having a clue that something is amiss. While I lay back I can even notice the feeling of the sun on my face, the sound of the gulls, the smell of the sea, the sensation of buoyancy and the taste of salt on my lips as I allow myself to think about the things I am grateful for. I don’t swim against it, instead I either let myself go with it until it brings me back to shore or I swim sideways instead, without tiring myself. Sometimes, after I float for a while I look up and can see I’ve been carried away by the current and I know what to do. When larger ripples or waves surprise me I accept this, knowing that the moment will pass and the uncomfortableness I feel will not last forever. “I swim out and just lie on my back in the ocean, allowing ripples to pass under me. This is how one person describes their experience of staying afloat: But to an accomplished swimmer, lying flat on the water comes naturally and easily. To a poor swimmer, doing “nothing” in such a situation would be counter-intuitive, in fact they just wouldn’t think of it. One thing is for sure, the more we struggle the faster we will sink! Sometimes our mind might even tell us that drowning might be a good way to relieve our distress. Our mind might be telling us there’s no way back, our breathing can get faster and as we struggle to stay afloat by treading water or trying to swim against the current, it can feel exhausting and terrifying. If we don’t know what to do we can feel tired, frightened, exhausted and alone. When we get overwhelmed with distressing emotions or unwanted thoughts it’s a bit like being brought out to sea by a strong current into the middle of the ocean. 18th Aug 2021 Staying Afloat What to do when feeling emotionally “all at sea” |
